Baby Shower Gift Idea

Tis the season for BABIES. I was looking for an inexpensive gift to be able to take to all of the baby showers that come up at this time of year.

And since nothing smells better than a newly bathed baby, this was my solution:

Fold the large bath towel into desired shape.

Fold the hand towel's bottom edge up about 8 inches this will become your pocket.

Turn towel over and fold first long side in to the midpoint.

Fold other side over to end. Now you can turn it over and discover the little pocket. I fold the washcloth in thirds and then place it in the pocket. The little rubber ducky provides the finishing touch.

I used a piece of 7/8 inch white Grosgrain Ribbon to tie around the towels.

And now your gift is ready to give for right around $10.oo.

If you shop the white sales you may be able to get an even better deal.

The rubber ducky is by Infantino and is available at Walmart for .99cents.

Rag Dolls

My husband and I spent the morning tying rag dolls before Church. I added ribbon to the back so that they could become Christmas Tree Ornaments...... in my house it's all about the Tree(s).

Mulberry Paper Family Tree

I made this family tree about two years ago, but everyone is still talking about it. I love its simplicity.

This project only needs Mulberry paper (available at craft store) and a gold gel pen.....that's it. But use the colors that you love. The bottom layer of *ground* is my children's names and then the other half of them (there's 7 in all) form the *trunk*. I used first and middle names.

Then branching out to each side is the names of me and my husband (mom and dad).

From mom's side, the family branches out, and from dad's side his family branches out. At each intersection there is a little *twig* where I recorded marriage dates.

Ex. Where my Mom and Dad are married I put 4/1970.

This is a beautiful way to display your family info...... my kids have pulled it out time and time again for school projects.

If you don't have 7 children like me, then simply use you children's names as the ground and the trunk would be you and your spouse and build from there!

Mini FHE boards or Chore boards

I found these boards at Hobby Lobby pre-drilled. They are about 8 inches long. They are perfect for Mini- FHE boards or even Chore Charts. You can either put childs name on the shapes or on the board and then the assignments/chores on the other. I just hot glued the knobs on using high temp hot glue.

Snowflake Ball

This was a clear ball with snowflake contact paper cutouts.

I placed it in a ziploc bag and shook it in "Winter Wonderland" embossing powder and then using an embossing gun heated the powder to make SNOW.

Tied with lavendar and silver ribbon. Very elegant.

Sepia Nativity Canvas Tutorial

This is my Nativity Canvas. It was really easy to do and took about 30 minutes from start to finish!

I took a black and white picture that I really loved, threw it into Photoshop, Sepia toned it, and then used an edging tool and gave it a torn edge look.

Using Avery T-shirt iron-on paper, I printed the picture.

Note: If not using Iron-on software, remember to "reverse" or "mirror" image!

Iron on the image to fabric (I used a brown specked canvas), following pacakage directions.

It is very important to iron on a hard surface so that the iron-on will adhere to surface. I use a bread board on the table. Make sure all edges are ironed firmly.

Let project cool COMPLETELY.

Carefully remove backing from transfer.

(If you see that it is sticking lay backing down and iron over very carefully again, but let cool compeletely before trying to relift)

Once backing is removed you are ready to begin stretching canvas to frame.

Using staple gun secure canvas to frame.

If you want to have a "finished" look, you can add brown craft paper to cover the staples and canvas edges.

Your project is done!

I chose to seal my project with a clear spray paint.

I spayed a very light coat to the canvas, letting it dry for two hours before applying a second coat.

After 24 hours the project is ready to be displayed.

REMEMBER: this is a computer printed image, so use the spray/sealer LIGHTLY as the image will run if too much is used.

I love nativities. Every year I try to make a new nativity. This year I found these clothespins at the Dollar Tree and thought they would make a great Joseph and Mary.

The clothespin shape allows you to "stand" them in the Christmas tree.

It took me about two hours to make 10 sets from start to finish.

Fabric Candy Cane. These were too easy. Plaid fabric was wrapped around a plastic

candy cane and hot glued at the end. A small bow made with twine completed the ornament.
